Outreach & Caring Connections

Many older adults experience isolation, which can lead to mental health challenges and diminished quality of life. Isolation leaves seniors more vulnerable to scams and exploitation. We address this with programs that foster connection and care.

Who We Serve

Adults 60+ (exceptions made for adults with disabilities) residents of stamford with household incomes at or below the Federal Poverty Level.

Core Services

Well Check Calls

We match our senior clients with a Caring Connections volunteer who call weekly to say hello and share conversations. More than a well check call, a Caring Connection volunteer offers a regular friendly voice to talk to, a way to stay connected to the community.

Caring Connections

Through Caring Connections, we support seniors with quarterly distributions of personal care products and annual Thanksgiving and December gift bags. The bags may include food or grocery gift cards, calendars, and useful household items. More importantly, each outreach creates an opportunity for personal connection, helping reduce social isolation and reminding seniors that they remain valued and connected to their community.

Outreach

Our Outreach Program Manager, Rev. Fred Ogletree, leads regular outreach meetings at three senior sites to connect with vulnerable seniors where they are. At these meetings, he offers support, resources and referrals and often invites guest speakers from the community. He also conducts home, hospital and nursing home visits.

Silver Paws

Pets provide companionship, purpose and emotional comfort for many older adults, helping to ease isolation and support overall well-being. Through our volunteer led program, SilverSource helps seniors continue caring for their beloved animals by providing pet food, supplies and assistance with transportation to veterinary appointments.
